Tourism & Marketing/Communications - Intern

Unpaid position (Class credit may be received for this internship)
Description: Do you love Fort Worth? Are you interested in marketing? Join the official Destination Marketing Organization of Fort Worth as an intern and be the 1st to know about everything happening in the “City of Cowboys & Culture!”
Internship program will offer students an opportunity to assist the Vice President of Marketing/Communications, the Director of Tourism and staff at the Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) located in downtown Fort Worth. The students should have the initiative to begin and successfully complete projects and various tasks assigned with little to no supervision.
After completing an internship with the FWCVB an Intern will gain:
Frequent walking from event facility to event facility, lifting up to 50lbs, climbing stairs, standing in elements, sitting, typing, drive a vehicle, talking on telephone, etc.
Achievements:
Experience and knowledgeable with CRM database
• Edited and coordinated new website content for tourism trade
• Earned Certified Tourism Ambassadors Certificate
• Coordinated materials for trade shows, and familiarization tours for prospect clients such as international and domestic journalists, tourist groups
• Gained a working knowledge of Event Marketing

- A greater understanding of the responsibility and impact of Social Media, especially within non-profit organizations
- Organizational skills for event management and execution for events such as Trade Shows, Conventions and Familiarization Tours
- Hands-on event planning experience including promotion of said events and activities
- A better knowledge of databases and how to best utilize them
- Exposure developing, researching and implementing Marketing and Promotional Plans – Past Interns have created such materials as the Group Travel Guide, which is widely used in the Tourism Department
- Certified Tourism Ambassador Certification
- Undergraduate student working toward a degree in tourism, communications, marketing & PR or related field
- Creativity and Originality
- Possess excellent research, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to assume a variety of independent responsibilities and follow through to its completion
- Working knowledge of computers
